The Heroine from Hedon is their stunning full face retro inspired helmet. We really do think these are the most gorgeous retro style full face helmets on the market right now. They have transferred their expertise and skill that was apparent in the Hedonist open face helmet to the Heroine with the exquisite leather interior and trim and the brass, copper and gunmetal hardware which looks great on the superb paint finishes on the shell. Talking of the shell, it is made from a very lightweight carbon fibreglass and carbon mix so is kind on your neck and there are three vents along the top. The Hedon Heroine Racer also has an intergrated flip down visor with great optics and anti-fog and anti-scratch properties. The Heroine is ECE 22.05 safety certified.

Overall Rating

*****

Exceptional Quality.

Ok, Let's put aside immediately the price. Yes for the price, you expect the helmet to deliver, but let's just review it ignoring that and simply judge it as a motorcycle helmet. To judge of its qualities I rode 200 miles with it, at various speeds, in Scotland, under rain, grey and sunny weather. It is judged in comparison with the £150 Premier Trophy Helmet, and a random 'cheap' full face standard helmet from Amazon. To finish with, it's judged as a 'Retro Style' helmet. I'm sure you could find technical helmets, dedicated to maximum comfort and features to the comprise of style for the same price.

Comfort: Amazing. The opening is tight though. Beware of your piercings and other earings. Once in, and you pushed your head deep in, it's immediately snug and fitting. I reckon there is space for some audio equipment, but I possess none. The visor does not fog. Like Nope! And I'm talking about a ride in rain, by 5 degress in Scotland, with a neck warmer over my mouth. Not a spec of fog. The visor itself is extremely clear and lets itself be forgotten after 5mn. There is a little distracting distortion in the upmost sides when checking your blind spot, but I'm really nitpicking there. When riding open visor the helmet does not pull your head backwards, a real much needed comfort. The ventilation seemed effective as I wasn't sweating too much in the sun, but then again, it's Scotland. What do I know about warmth. Rain does not seem to go in when riding in rain, but I did not ride in any torrential conditions. The wind reaches your chin. In comparison, when riding the Trophy Premier, the wind reaches your ears.

Sound isolation: Very peculiar and very effective. Why peculiar: You can faintly hear the wind slide on your lid's sides. A unique noise I never had in any other helmet. But in comparison to the Premier Trophy or other helmets I tried, it's really silent. No wind is reaching your ears, and up to 80mph, the noise levels are very low. (Tested with and without my usual earplugs).

Aesthetics: It's obviously superb. The detail attention goes to the smallest places like the buckle itself, it's little strip or red leather or the quality of the strap used. Obviously, the brass plates on each sides breathe quality and they are both easy to loosen and securely tighten. The gloss black is splendid but impossible not to scratch. My leather jacket's zip scratched it on the first day. A minor (almost invisible) detail but you would like to see a more resilient gloss (if it's even possible).

Side notes: The helmet comes with a 'Premium Feel' Helmet bag. I never used any of these before, but considering the price and the quality of this lid, I use it every time I take the Heroine off and need to carry it around. Don't forget to remove the inside visor protection. it's completely invisible (you would never know it's here), and my Hedon had no stickers mentioning it, and it is not mentioned anywhere in the booklet. It's hard to remove because you can't see it and you need not to unstick the fog protection. But without removing it, the helmet fogs completely in a matter of seconds. In opposition to the Premier Trophy, you won't able to remove the visor and ride like that. It clearly has never been designed for this.

I would give it a 9 out of 10. It's pricey and easy to aesthetically damage. But the overall comfort and build quality are superb.
